Abstract
DAKWAH BIL HAL and EMPOWERMENT OF MODERN SLAVERY VICTIMS: RECONTEXTUALISATION OF QS. AL-BALAD: 8-16. This article examines community interventions for victims of modern slavery among marginalized communities by using the Qur'an as a normative and operational basis. Previous studies have shown a fragmented tendency, namely the interpretation of QS. Al-Balad: 8–16 is generally read as moral criticism and recommendations for individual charity, while social studies tend to separate the issue of slavery from the spiritual dimension as a source of transformation. As a result, there is no adequate framework to explain how the message of the Qur'an can be operationalized as a strategy of da'wah bil hal. To fill this gap, this article uses a qualitative method based on literature studies with Fazlur Rahman's double movement hermeneutic approach. The first movement is carried out through a sociohistorical reading of the context in which this surah was revealed, while the second movement is carried out by contextualizing moral ideals using an empowerment approach in addressing the issue of modern slavery. continued. The results of this study indicate that the Qur'an's response to structural inequality is transformative and oriented towards liberation from powerlessness. The main finding of this article is the formulation of a Qur'anic empowerment model based on social action, extracted from QS. Al-Balad , which includes three stages: awareness and liberation from exploitation, strengthening the capacity for independent and sustainable living, and empowerment through participation and social solidarity. This model emphasizes that da'wah bil halis a transformative empowerment process that restores the dignity, capacity, and social position of victims of modern slavery in a sustainable manner.
